Building Literacy Through Community Connection
According to a recent survey conducted by the Literacy Council of West Alabama, the greatest community request for literacy support in West Alabama include adult tutoring, free Little Libraries, and literacy workshops. These programs continue to play a vital role in expanding access to literacy resources and building stronger, more connected communities. The services below fortify the literacy skills necessary to be successful.
Adult Tutoring
We offer one-to-one and small group tutoring for adults throughout West Alabama, providing personalized support to help learners build confidence and strengthen essential literacy skills. Our tutoring programs are designed to meet individuals where they are, whether they want to improve reading, writing, financial literacy, English language skills, digital literacy, or prepare for educational and career opportunities.
Through a supportive and welcoming environment, our trained tutors work alongside adult learners to help them reach personal goals, gain independence, and create brighter futures for themselves and their families.
Little Libraries
Our Free Little Libraries help expand access to books and literacy resources throughout West Alabama by partnering with community spaces that believe in the power of reading. Local businesses, organizations, schools, churches, and neighborhoods lend their spaces to host these libraries, creating welcoming places where individuals and families can freely take a book, share a book, or discover something new.
Designed for readers of all ages and backgrounds, our free Little Libraries encourage a love of reading, increase access to literature, and help strengthen literacy across our communities—one book at a time.
Literacy Workshops
Our literacy workshops provide practical tools and resources to help individuals build confidence and succeed in everyday life. Through short, supportive drop-in sessions, we offer resume building assistance, job application help, basic digital literacy, and other skill-building resources designed to support personal, educational, and career growth.
